I made 3 categories to describe the differences between hotels here around:

The cheapest (Minshuku style)

- you have to share toilets and facilities
- there is no open air bath
- staff do not wear Kimono
- no pick up from Yudanaka station (some of hotels)
- very simple food served in room
- please do not expect too much !

Midlle range Ryokans

- toilet and sink in the room (not all of hotels)
- open air bath (but not for private use, you have to share)(men/ladies separately)
- building looks better
- better location, services, food
___________________________________________________________________________

High range Ryokans (mostly do not accept accommodation only)

- toilet & sink in the room, some of them also shower
- 4 and more baths in the hotel
- open air baths
- private open air bath (you can lock yourself and use bath with friend/girlfriend/wife)
- very nice historical building
- all staff is wearing kimono
- keeping jap. traditional customs
- Kaiseki  traditional japanese dinner, Vegetarian meals available 
- massage/esthe services (not all of the best hotels)
- english speaking staff

(there is only one hotel where rooms have private hot bath on your balcony !!!)

- In all of these areas are ryokan hotels with traditional japanese style of
