We drove up from Tokyo for the day and were treated with the warmest hospitality we have experienced in our five years in Japan. From the friendliness shown by the two women that helped us on the street to the udon/soba restaurant owner, we felt the 10 hours of driving was well worth the experience at Jigokudani and Shibu Onsens. By chance, we ran into Zeno at the Oyu bath - he was a great help with translating our conversation for how to use the bath.

It was my best accidental choice in the life to spent a three days in Shibu Onsen. Either the best "spa" I have ever visited. The small city located in river valley with lot of temples around. The narrow and old streets are full of guest wearing the yukata in the colours of their hotel. The streets are full of shop with traditional Japanese products. People on streets are very kind and the whole atmosphere of the village is very calm, keeping relax and slow flowing life. I like it very much. And from time to time the monkeys are visiting the Spa from mountains to have a look what's new in civilization. Definitely I want to come back. Jura

When searching the internet for information about Nagano and its surroundings, I found Zeno's website about the Yudanaka area. What a nice website with lots of helpful information!!! For this reason, we decided to change our plan (so not to stay in Nagano) and that we would like to stay in Shibu Onsen. Zeno has been extremely helpful in finding a suitable hotel for us in the area! Thank you so much for all your help Zeno! We are looking forward to meeting you in Shibu Onsen in November!
Hospitality at its best
